Privacy policy

Zentech Electrical is a registered electrical contractor operating in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described below, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

We only collect what we need to quote and carry out electrical work.

• When you send an enquiry or request an estimate: your name, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, the address or area of the job, your message, and how you would prefer us to contact you. We also record which page you submitted the form from. We use this solely to respond to you and to carry out the work you ask for.
• When you use the on-site chat assistant: nothing is stored. It answers from a fixed list of service and pricing information in your browser and does not send your messages to us.
• If you are a Zentech employee: the staff area holds your name, work email, job title, pay rate, clock-in and clock-out times and any leave or advance requests, for payroll and scheduling. It is accessible only to signed-in staff and management.

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not send marketing unless you ask us to.

The website itself does not need cookies to work. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are useful, which sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data, including a shortened version of your IP address, to Google. You can opt out at any time using Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not affect any part of this site.

We use a small number of service providers to run the website, and they process information on our instructions only:

• Vercel — hosts the website and serves it to your browser.
• Supabase — stores enquiries and staff records in a database located in London, United Kingdom.
• Google Analytics — website usage statistics.

Because our database is hosted in the United Kingdom, your information is transferred outside South Africa. The UK has data-protection laws that POPIA recognises as providing a comparable level of protection.

We keep enquiries for as long as needed to respond and to honour any workmanship or compliance obligations arising from the job, and then for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Employee records are kept for the periods required by South African labour and tax law. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, just ask.

Under POPIA you may:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• ask us to delete information we no longer need;
• object to us using your information in a particular way; and
• complain to the Information Regulator if you are not satisfied with how we have handled it.

Enquiries and staff records are held in an access-controlled database. Staff accounts are password protected and each person can only see their own records; management access is limited to the people who need it. The whole site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top. Please check back occasionally.
